HBACF Go Kart Races and Auction Set for November 17

The HBA Charitable Foundation is gearing up for the annual scholarship auction. The proceeds from this event provide scholarships and departmental grants to both the OTC and MSU construction programsand MSU’s interior design program. Currently, the HBACF provides seven scholarships as well as three grants. This year’s event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17th at the Incredible Pizza Company at 6 pm.

The HBACF Scholarship Committee is currently seeking donations for the auction. How can you get involved? There are four easy ways to participate:

-Donate an item(s) to the Auction
-Be a Go Kart or Banner sponsor
-Be brave and race a Go Kart!
-Attend the event, bid on silent auction items and cheer on the Kart Racers!

KSPR: Nixa Family Wins 2009 St. Jude Dream Home

KSPR 33 in Springfield held a two-hour telethon to give away the local 2009 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Dream Home. Kevin & Patricia Sutton, from Nixa, MO, won the home Sunday for just $100.

The Suttons' name was drawn from thousands of entries in the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. The giveaway raised $471,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The $375,000 home in the Lions Gate subdivision was built by the HBA Charitable Foundation and Sam Bradley Homes.

KSPR News reported Thursday (October 9) that ground has officially been broken on the 2009 St. Jude Dream Home. The home is built annually through the efforts of the HBA of Greater Springfield Charitable Foundation and HBA members. The 2009 Dream Home will be in Lions Gate subdivision, and it will be built by HBA builder Sam Bradley (Sam Bradley Homes). Sam Bradley Selected as 2009 St. Jude Dream Home Builder in Lions Gate

The board of directors of the Home Builders Association Charitable Foundation today gave final approval to the selection of a builder and lot location for the 2009 St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Dream Home project. Sam Bradley (Sam Bradley Homes) will build the 2009 Dream Home on lot #48 in Lions Gate, just south of Springfield.

The 2009 St. Jude's Dream Home will be a story and a half French Country style with approximately 2500 finished square footage. The home is planned to be built for appraisal in the $350,000 to $375,000 range. Bradley will donate his services as the builder, and the building site is a 100% donation as well, courtesy of Lions Gate Development, L.L.C. The Prestigious homesites in Lions Gate offer some of the finest views in Southern Greene County. Recreational amenities will include a swimming pool, community pavilion, bathhouse, water slide, wading pool, tennis courts, basketball court, playset, barbecue grills and a picnic area.

A second generation contractor, Sam Bradley has developed a distinguished reputation as one of the most trusted builders in the Springfield area. Sam grew up building homes with his father, Orville Bradley, and started Sam Bradley Homes in 1976. He has been influenced by working with architects Ken Emanuelson and Atlanta's Stephen Fuller. Recently Sam joined with Design Basics - the country's largest home plan design company - to become their exclusive Women-Centric Home Builder for the Springfield area.

Sam's involvement in the local and state HBAs and the National Association of Home Builders has earned him the designations of Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Remodelor, and Certified Green Professional. His professional service and volunteerism are well known. Sam is a past president of the HBA of Greater Springfield and 1997 recipient of the HBA's Builder of the Year award. In 2006, he was inducted into the HBA of Greater Springfield Hall of Fame. Sam was selected to build the HBA Office Building as a green building demonstration project, which was completed in Spring 2007. He currently chairs the HBA Green Builders Committee.

The kickoff event for the 2009 Dream Home will be the annual Bricks & Sticks luncheon on September 18 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Executive Conference Center 910 W. Battlefield. Kick Off event for 2009 St. Jude Dream Home is September 18th

The HBA Charitable Foundation invites you to attend the Bricks & Sticks luncheon scheduled for September 18th, 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Executive Conference Center (910 W. Battlefield). This luncheon is the kick off event for building the 2009 St. Jude Dream Home.

Join us for a wonderful bbq lunch and learn more about the St. Jude Dream Home and how you can help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fight childhood diseases. You will have the opportunity to meet the 2009 St. Jude Dream Home builder, Sam Bradley, and preview preliminary plans for the home.

There is no charge for this luncheon, but you must contact the HBA office to make your reservation (881-3711 or char@springfieldhba.com) no later than September 16th.

St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Date Announced

The 2008 St. Jude Dream Home is here! On June 29, one lucky family will be awarded a fabulous home in the Vintage Hills subdivision west of Springfield. Tickets may be purchased at the HBA of Greater Springfield office (636 W Republic Rd, #D108) or you can call 1-800-870-2980 to purchase a ticket.

The Dream Home will be closed on June 29th in order to prepare for the telethon on KSPR that evening (5pm-7pm). You will be able to purchase tickets until 6:30 pm by calling 1-800-870-2980.

HBACF Opens Dream Home with Picnic Celebration

On Thursday, May 20, The Home Builders Association Charitable Foundation hosted its sponsor awards picnic at the clubhouse in Vintage Hills. More than 200 HBA members attended the event, which thanked all those who have contributed to making the 2008 Dream Home a success. HBACF board members were on hand to hand out awards and serve BBQ to the guests. Dream Home Builder John Marion did double duty, manning the dream home to field excited questions from visitors and helping hand out awards to subcontractors, suppliers and volunteers who helped the project succeed.
